Split polyurethane bush

I've just been checking the car over as i've done about 300miles since finishing the build (and it is too wet today) and noticed that the poyurethane bush on the top mount of the front coil over damper has split. Infact it looks pretty mashed up and several pieces of polyurethane rubber have come off.

Has anyone had this problem before and can offer any suggestions as to the possible cause..?

I'll contact the manufacturer of the damper tomorrow to get a replacement part (hopefully just the bush).

Many thanks

Re: Split polyurethane bush

Make sure that the weight of the car is on the ground before tightening up, so the bush is not under any strain when at rest.
