Boot lock

After trawling through the archives i cannot find what i want to know.
Don't suppose anyone has pics of how they fitted the boot lock mechanism and striker plate?
Also do people use the sierra assembly or is there a tidier aftermarket type? I am toying with a keyless type (eg cable operated in same way as bonnet), but will probably stick with conventional type.
It has to be SVA'able.
Cheers

Re: Boot lock

Hi Kev, I have just done mine this weekend and have used the Dax supplied kit. Looks like an old Mini handle.
I can email you a pic or two tomorrow after work if you wish. It was reasonably easy to install just had to cut away at the fibreglass on the lock moniting point to enable getting the pinkies in to tighten the bolt.
Kind regards
Mark

Re: Boot lock

My Sumo has no external boot lock. I used the mechanism from the Mk IV Cortina donor and the cable mechanism from a Granada Mk III (I think). Release is in the footwell.Hope the pictures make sense:thumb:

Re: Boot lock

Hi Robin
Nice pics, i like the idea of the lock being bolted to the chassis and the pin on the bootlid.
My granada lock is a bit unweildly, but does have the central locking solenoid built onto it.
Looks like i may have to mess about with the wiring loom to add some wires for the solenoid.
Plenty of food for thought.
Cheers

Re: Boot lock

Thanks for that Steamy - super sticky tyres on the Ninja - need it the way I ride:-}

Kev - Central locking certainly sounds the way to go - means that any passer-by can't access your boot without an ignition key:thumb:
