James

Have you tried it with the charge warning light connected to the bulb as I seem to remember this could have an effect on the charging circuit.
I could be wrong but I`m sure I remember someone having a similar problem a while back.

James you need the blue wire connected to the ign warning light and the other side of the light connected to ign 12v positive. This excites the alternator into charging on startup :thumb:

Re: Help me wire this in,,, please

okay now i'm confused.

i have wired up the ignition warning light as per ak's wiring instructions, so when i turn the igntion on i have a light on dash illuminated, when the car starts the light stays on. ak's wiring instruvtions for the engine bay give me a thick red and thin blue to alternator and they also mention a jumper?

James.

Does the warning light stay on when you rev the engine?Mines a single wire hook up to the alternator and relies on about 2000rpm at which point it starts charging and then continues to do so when the revs drop back off, it just needs that initial rev to start things going.

Re: Help me wire this in,,, please

hi tony
i had a rusty old capri that was the same ,forget to rev it, the batt goes flat!! if you change the wattage of the bulb (bigger bulb!)it reduces the 'cut in' speed....!! so it charges sooner...@ an lower speed
