Correct Electric Fuel pump?

Gents, I have been reading the notes on Fuel pumps in the forum
and am still confused !!!
A brief history.....
After installing my engine (Chevy 350 ci. mild tune 300-350 hp, with mechanical fuel pump) into my kit (RAM 427) I have found that the pump is far too close to the Chassis. I have therefore decided to fit an Electric fuel pump behind the rear bulkhead, in-front of the tank.
I have purchased a Facet Red top 35G/hr, which I believed to be up to the job. But after a trip to the local Engine spares shop I have been told that this will cause problems at the top end due to lack of flow, they have suggested a Holley electric fuel pump at 120G/hr & £120+vat.
Is anyone else running a similar set up with a Facet red top pump and are you having any problems? (ignoring the electrical break downs)
ie
Have I F@<£$d up again or will I get away with it ?

Comments suggestions gladly received.

The Facet Red top won't be man enough for the job, you want a Carter performance electric pump from Real Steel. it works fine on my 350hp Chevy with a 750 Holley Carb. :thumb: :thumb:

Re: Correct Electric Fuel pump?

I believe the Carter is cheaper than the equivalent Holley (and is self regulating to around 5psi, so no pressure regulator needed).

Re: Correct Electric Fuel pump?

My Chryser 440 puts out 450 bhp and has absolutely no problems with a Facet red top, which has been feeding it for 4 years now. Make sure your feed lines are a decent size, and use a regulator to keep the pressure down to reasonable limits.

Re: Correct Electric Fuel pump?

Steve,

If you hook up the Facet to your existing fuel lines on a temporary basis, you can disconnect at the carb and do a flow check into a fuel can.
It won't take into account any pressure losses in the carb but might give you a clue re. adequate line sizes.
