Engine Crane

Anybody found an engine crane that can operate from the front. The ones I have seem are not long enough. It needs to be a fold up jobbie and capable of lifting a smallblock chevy. Was looking at the gantry type, but these dont allow you to get it into the back of a van.

Re: Engine Crane

Lets see if this works...

That should be a pic of my 2 tonne one from screwfix. Does .5 tonne at max reach, so quite able to do full engine and gearbox.

Seen here fitting the engine & box from the front, albeit without the bodyshell fitted! Might be able to reach over the bonnet.

Re: Engine Crane

I have just bought a CFC1000LR from machine mart. it is the long reach crane and I put my engine in this weekend from the front. 250kg capacity at full extent.

It does not fold up tho, but only took 30min to fully assemble for the first time.

The pictures are hosted at the http://owners.gdcars.com/ website, which, I assume, is a log in / password site.
Us mere mortals obviously don't have the golden key!

Any chance of a favour. Could you meausure from the edge of the piston ram to the hook as this is going to be the critical factor. I dont know whether the stated 1500mmm means from the ram or just the boom
Thanks

Re: Engine Crane

Hy,

I bought a two tonne telescopic crane on Ebay (New) which is capable of lifting 0.5MT fully extended. This has ample length to work from the front and has the required load capacity for Engine and gearbox. I will check the make and model when home and give you the company name. It was pretty reasonable at around £140 quid.

Thanks for that I really would appreciate it. Have you actually used it with the body fixed, I'd hate to buy one and then find it was a few inches short

Cheers
