Side pipes

Hi ya
Can anyone tell me how much space I have to leave between the side pipe muffler and the body shell?
At the moment I have about 20mm. What is the closest I can do?

thanks

Re: Side pipes

I would leave enough of a gap so you can get between to clean the pipes an body, I notice you are having Carbon Side Pipes, so heat won't be a problem. :thumb:

Re: Side pipes

Hi Marc
Where are you getting Carbon sidepipes from, and what is approx cost?
What is the best way of securing pipes to frame? eg mini bobbins etc?
Cheers

Re: Side pipes

Kev, Mini bobbins arn't up to the job, you can get some heavy ones from Custom Chrome, I have been told since that they are a Land Rover Part :thumb:

Re: Side pipes

Hi ya
Thanks for your replys.
I'm ordering the tube from a company called "Carbon Made" and make the rest myself.

www.carbon-made.de

Price approx. 217.10 Euro for a tube:

Messurements:

outside diameter: 102 mm grinded and high gloss coated.
inside diameter: 100mm
length: 1000 mm (thats to long, I have to messure again.)
heat: according to carbon made it should take approx. 120 - 140°C

hope it works. will let you know assap.

cheerio for now

Re: Side pipes

Thanks for the help. I would suggest making a pair off metal rings to hold the carbon onto the steel end pieces (as on motor cycle silencers). I had a ducati once with carbon cans, with no steel band and holes in carbon kept getting bigger with vibrations.
Cheers
