| Re: Engine wiring for test start-up Hi Gary, Happy New Year for you too!. Regarding your request. There are some contradictions, you say: Quote:
But with out jokes, you need to give us the kind of engine you use because there are some differences. The kind of alternator (single or multiple wires) Explain also the components that you want to use, like the coil, resistor? MSD? Start solenoid? Etc. With this extra information people would give you some input that would help to solve your problem. Best regards, Cobra289

| Re: Engine wiring for test start-up LS1 - about 300 wires and several hours of grief plugging and unplugging the multitude of sensors before ordering new ones and hoping that they will work... ... eh, Paul?

| Re: Engine wiring for test start-up Hi garyholden, I am preparing a drawing for you with the main components so that you can start with that. Some other people will need to advice and correct if it is necessary. Regards, Cobra289

| Re: Engine wiring for test start-up Here is the drawing that I have promised. The large version you can download from here: http://www.donostia.demon.nl/Standard.png I hope that you can understand. The colors are not according to any standard, just use your colors. I have used a Start Solenoid (start relay) they are cheap and it gives you a nice possibility for a power distribution. Don’t forget to use the “Fusible Link” at the power distribution. If you buy one of the Start Solenoid from Summit you get the fusible link. Some other people will need to advice and correct if it is necessary. Upload from pictures software has problems at this moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Regards, Cobra289

| Re: Engine wiring for test start-up Hi Gary, I hope you don't mind me partly high jacking your posting but it's relating to the same subject. Seeing the great diagram that Cobra289 posted for you I was wondering if he could post a similar diagram for my set-up which is, I have a Chevy V8 with a HEI dizzy, the alternator has a single round pole connectors which is marked Batt also it has 2 push on spade connectors, there is no markings on the alternator to say which cable goes to the either of the push on spade connectors, I've uploaded 2 photo's of the rear of my alternator, at the present time I'm just going to running a basic set-up with no electronics but at a later stag I'm planning a MSD set-up, all my gauges are Smiths (Gower Oaks). My auto electrics are totally crap, I have a hard job to wire up a trailer plug I hope it's not to much hassle for you Cobra289. Thanks to all how can offer advice. Kelvin |
