Jaguar XJS to the Boneyard!

Hi Chaps,

The time has come to take the complete XJS I bought for my AK build to the scrapyard. When the XJS gets to the scrapyard I will set about removing the bits I need for my build. Can anyone advise if the list of parts I need to remove from the XJS is correct & also advise on the couple of questions:

Complete rear axle, subframe, diff & braking system - do I need to keep the propshaft?

Complete front axle, subframe & braking system.

Complete handbrake assembly.

Complete gearbox - Do I need any other bits off the gearbox?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Martyn

I would since I used some of it for my new propshaft...

Hi Martin,
Some more to add to your list, no doubt others will lengthen it further.

Keep Prop shaft- the splined yoke on the end cost a small fortune to get separate.

Keep Gear stick.

Save the 3way brake unions-these again are ridiculously expensive to buy new.

Ask the scrappy to cut through' the front springs with an oxy cutter.

Keep the Jag wheels for build up purposes.

Not to obvious but keep wiring loom. It is a resource if you need some extra wires and want to follow a standard color scheme (since the original one contain wires of all colors and color combinations).

May sound stupid, But keep the glove box hinge/latch and key just in case you decide to fit a door to it later

Keep the spacesaver wheel if its got one, keep the brake light switch, keep all the bulbs, the wheel nuts, fuel pump, seat belts ( make excellent lifting and tie down straps) ..........dont think theres much left is there....

Cheers,

Tony

If there is anything re-useable (interior, straight, rust-free panels etc) get them on ebay - you might be surprised what they fetch :thumb: :thumb:

Keep the handbrake assembly, even you don't use it on the AK there's plenty of Dax builders that will want it. :thumb::thumb:
