Re: General wiring

To be honest, for the cost of a custom made loom for a Cobra, its not worth the hassle making one. :thumb:

Re: General wiring

Have a look at the attachments here (post 12) Run time error

As Mike says for the cost of a Custom Loom it hardly seems worth it

Re: General wiring

Cimoss, if you PM your e-mail address I'll send you a couple from other car manufacturers, sorry they are to big to post on here and don't want to make them any smaller as you may not be able to read them.

Re: General wiring

Thanks for the tips.....as I have ready access to auto thin wall and connectors I am still looking to go down the DIY route, guess I just get perverse sense of satisfaction that there is actually something that has been constructed by myself!! .

madjohnny I've pm'ed you my email ad, anything you have would be of great help.....Chris

Re: General wiring

From memory www.premierwiring.co.uk do the complete loom, with connectors, fuse blocks etc for approx £140 inc VAT. So for that money, i did't see the point of making one.

Re: General wiring

Hi Cimoss,

If you really want to have a go at your own loom I have a Cobra loom schematic you can have a copy of.

Send me your email address in a PM.

Regards
Chris

Re: General wiring

I would certainly make my own loom again; it is not difficult and makes quite a good winter job because you can do most of it in the house.

Advantages are:
  1. Cheaper (only slightly).
  2. You can get the runs and lengths exactly right for your configuration.
  3. You can run earth returns instead of earthing to the chassis.
Other thoughts:
  • Use a 'known' colour scheme, I copied mine from the diagram in a Haynes manual for a Vauxhall Ventora.
  • Bullet connectors are cheap, reliable and have a real 'period' look; it is worth buying the crimp tool
  • Run earth returns ( did I mention that before! )
I found www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk very good to deal with, also a company called Merv Plastics in Notts.
