Dax Dimensions.

Hi Guys

Can someone give me the dimensions of a Dax kit once the wheels are on?? I am trying to work out the space needed in my garage. I have a single garage but fairly large (14' x 25') but need to keep other things in there too according to my wife!!
The plan is to build up the car from the Chasis and then buy the body last and when I'm ready, is that practical? I wouldn't really be able to store the body shell until I was ready to put it on so thought that would be the best way.

Cheers

Martin

Re: Dax Dimensions.

Hi Martin,

First of all, try to win your wife for the project; otherwise this will be a difficult job to do.

This project will cost you a lot of time and some times you will need a hand or two that help to get some items done.
Not a big deal, but wife hands are wonderful support.

Perhaps you can consider the option of putting the body on top of the chassis but at an elevated point so that you can work on the chassis without problems.

These days, DAX get a lots of complains about the body and perhaps they will use a new mold in a short period. This will be interesting because a new body from a new mold would perfect option for you. (Wait and get the best)

Ok the dimensions of the DAX cobra are as follow:

Wide at the rear wheel arch (body) 1766 mm = 69.5”
Length include all the bumpers 4000 mm = 157.5”
Height including windscreen 1150 mm = 45.3”
Height with out the wind screen 850 mm = 33.4”

These dimensions include the wheels and tires.

I post a drawing that I have made, perhaps this help you.
The real wheel track and rime off-set are just the ones that I use, DAX use smaller setup.

Re: Dax Dimensions.

Martin - are you buying a rolling chassis ? thats what i did and it made life so much easier for me in my little garage, and the R/chassis was less than 200 extra ? all i had to do was put in the battery cable, fuel pipe and rough up the chassis rails where the sealant/glue would go on, a day or twos work. ( i used to be a mechanic so any easy/affordable option i can take i do) I bought the shell at the same time so i just got three mates to lug the shell off and place on the grass opp my garage while i did this and then get them back later in the day to put the shell back on ! Basically i followed Nigel Deans article in "Kit Car" and the DAX instructions.
