Manual to Auto gearbox?

Is it possible to change a V8 Dax from a manual to auto gearbox and if so how complicated/expensive is it likely to be?

No idea on the cost but add to the cost the depreciation in the value of your car as autos are not as much in demand over hear if you ever decide to sell it. as for what is involved, most autos I think will need an oil cooler, of course you will need a totally different gear selector, the mounts for the gear box might need altering and possibly the prop shaft. You will need to get rid of all the clutch mechanism ( which will give you mere room for your feet ). HTH

Its dead easy........ just buy my Beemer beast with its 5 speed tiptronic..........

Have a word with RichardG - he's got a Rover V8 with Auto box that I'm sure he'd be happy to do a deal on... so he can get a proper engine!!!

I am looking for a Sumo or preferably a Dax with V8 but am lazy so would ideally like an auto. Sad I know!

you would have to do some major alterations to the chassis rails around the tunnel area as the auto box is much wider then the manual box, when i ordered my chassis from dax i specified it was for an auto and the chassis and floor was purpose made to accomadate the wider box. would not have thought it a manual box could be made in to an auto cost effectivly.
