Re: GD wiper motor..

The usualCobra(Mini) wiper motor has two speeds.

The heaters you only need one speed..................Full bl00dy chat! If you need the heaters on in a Cobra you will need them fully on.

Re: GD wiper motor..

GD supplied heater is three speed, only 2 of which are wired up. Have to agree with Dave though, if it's on, it'll be full blast

Re: GD wiper motor..

Cheer Jim, That means Ill get away with an Off/On switch instead of a 3 position one.

Re: GD wiper motor..

Andy,

I know you're looking to use the IXGS thingy, but you do know that you can't just slap a 2 circuit switch direct to the wiper motor?

I'm presuming your electronic widget does the hard work for you?

Re: GD wiper motor..

With the wiper motor, it's worth bearing in mind that the wiring does not allow for just a normal 2 position + off switch, as the 'park' input requires power when in the off position. There is a Lucas wiper motor switch, which probably looks horrible, or in the alternative, you just have to make sure you wire it up so that the park input gets power at all times when the wiper are not on and the ignition IS on.

I believe this is correct, though feel free to correct me as I haven't wired my one up yet, and I am building my own wiring loom, so could do with some guidance on it. There are 5 wires going into the unit.

I posted a diagram a while back here http://www.cobraclub.com/forum/showt...6634#post76634

that works fine. You need a simple, 'off / on1 / on2' switch, 2x5 pin relays and a diode.

Switch in Speed 1 position powers Relay 1, connecting 87 to 30. This puts power to motor pin 53.

Switch in Speed 2 position powers Relay 1 AND Relay 2, connecting R1 87 to 30 and R2 30 to 87. This puts power to motor pin 53B

When both relays are off power feeds through the cam switch and both relays until the cam 'parks'

Re: GD wiper motor..

Yes, wipers are different and would require a bit of thinking, the "box" would indeed sort most of this out as it is effectively replacing the relays. This is one area however where I will probably retain the standard three position toggle switch and maybe even the relays.

Ive found someone on the US cobra site who has just purchased one of the ISQE systems so Ill be following his progress with keen interest.

Cheers
