Re: Hawk 289

Yes Hawk cars are still made - they have a web site. I have a 289 FIA. Next to the Crendon they are definitely the most accurate Cobra replicas in terms of body shape and chassis. They also use the right engine - a FORD!!

Great attention to detail, great choice of running gear, great cars.

Re: Hawk 289

I did lust over the aluminium body at Stoneleigh - it was a work of art...

...that said, once they're painted you might as well have GRP

Re: Hawk 289

Has to be the best. More subtle than the steroid fed 427s that abound.

Re: Hawk 289

Not my cup of tea personally but a very nice car if that is what you're looking for.

That would have been a Kirkham. (Gerry is the UK agent) Not to be confused with the Hawk which is Fibreglass

Re: Hawk 289

Really? Thanks, Chris. There is something about swathes of curved aluminium isn't there? When I went to test drive a Caterham in their home town, they had a racing Lotus from the 50's (or possibly 60's) that evoked a similar response. Almost worth buying the bodyshell just to look at...

...my next house will have one suspended from the ceiling...
