Unable to select gears - any suggestions?

Hi guys
can anyone offer any suggestions please. Had the Cob standing in garage since mid December. Went to take her out on Saturday for first time this year and could not select gears with clutch fully depressed. However, she will go into gear with engine off, but relucantly - seems stiff to engage. Slave cylinder is actuating the fork arm and appears to be plenty of movement. Assumed pressure plate must be stuck to the flywheel so put her is 1st gear and rocked back and forth. No difference. Pushed her out on to road and started her in first and went round the block with kangaroo jerks and dabbing brake to see if if it would free it up. No luck. So is it the clutch plate or could it be something i've missed?
any ideas gratefully recieved
cheers
James

Get the engine really nice and warm and try all the usual tricks again it usually works eventually, if not it may be gearbox out unfortunately.
Do you have an inspection panel in the bellhousing that you can get a thin blade behind the plate?

What Kev is trying to tell you is that your driven plate may have "stuck" to the flywheel.

It will now require a measured application of brute force to free it.

Re: Unable to select gears - any suggestions?

This used to happen to a Tiger with Zetec I owned years ago.
It would happen if I left it for a two week period plus.

I used to free it by starting it in reverse gear. Worked every time.

As Wilf says, needs application of BFI. Drive as described above, then press all three pedals hard and simultaneously. Out of interest, is it a 'competition' clutch?
