Thread type/size

Can anyone tell me what the thread sizes are for the manifold/header studs/bolts for a 350 chevy, the heads are standard. I would prefer to use bolts rather than studs, is it best to use stainless steel? I'm off work tomorrow on annual leave and want to use the day to pick up/sort out bits 'n' bobs.

Thanks in advance

Re: Thread type/size

Thanks Rich.

Whilst this thread is relevantly new........... I posted a thread about a week ago regarding the tremec speedo sensor, I'm running a tremec 500 and want to use the existing sensor which is located to the o/s of the gearbox rather than fitting a daisy wheel. It has two very small terminals in the sensor and although I could probably use normal electrical terminals I would like to get the correct connector block for it (pic attached, albeit not a very good pic - camera phone) I called Real twats, sorry I mean real steel (where's the w*nker smiley when you need it!) and the guy told me it would be a special order from the states and would take 8 weeks. I have spoken to repower who supplied the gearbox and they do not stock it. Has anyone got a part number for the item I'm after or a contact number of a supplier over here (UK)? I emailed Jard of Current Performance Wiring (www.currentperformance.com) he mentioned it being a dare I say it Ford connection but other than that he came back with a blank.

Re: Thread type/size

Not up on tremecs as i have a getrag, but there has been other threads on this about a month or two ago.

If memory serves me right there are now two types of connection, but as I say I'm not 100%, try a search.

Have you seen the ones for sale in the classifieds as sold by Petecob?
Looks like thats the one you need

Re: Thread type/size

Cheers Rich

I see that in the classifieds but it looks like a slightly different sensor, I will send a PM to Petecob along with a pic.

Thanks again Rich

Re: Thread type/size

Rich

Just on the off chance do you know what type of thread the bolts are? I was going to see if I could get some locally today. The link you sent says they are 3/8" bolts

Cheers

Re: Thread type/size

Jason,
Thats right 3/8" UNC, but watch out for the bolt head size, depending on your headers they can have limited clearances.
