| tuning Not sure what the best plan of action to take,my chevy engine has done 600 miles so it is now done 1st stage of running in.the engine was built by british american engines.the ignition timing is set at 30- 33 degrees of advance and it can be now increased to 33-36degrees.now i can take the car upto BAE and have this done free but it is 140 miles (all motorway |

| Re: tuning Best plan would have been to set it at anywhere between 33 to 36 degrees in the first place as this sort of advance wouldn't have been an issue. If you want it setting up properly go to somebody who knows how to set up your carb to get the best lambda settings for cruise and max power. It will far outweigh the few degrees of advance in terms of power output. The guy with the rolling road may know, but to my experience I have only spoken to around 3 or 4 people in the UK who know how to do it, certainly on the Holley etc.- one is Tim Adams. In terms of timing, do it yourself if you dont want to rolling road it. Try it adjust a few degrees and try it again. Keep doing this until you get a good set up at power and cruise with good sttarting. If you are then feeling bold, look at your advance curve and tune that. There are some good guides on the web in relation to different combo tune. Mike |
