Vacuum Hose / Fuel Hose

Hi all,

I currently have all my vacuum hoses mocked up with fuel hose of the correct internal diameter.

Should I be aiming to replace these with vacuum hose or will fuel hose suffice? What is the difference between the two?

Thank in advance,

Re: Vacuum Hose / Fuel Hose

Vacuum hoses have much much thicker walls so they don't collapse under the vacuum pressure. You will have to replace the fuel hoses on there.

Re: Vacuum Hose / Fuel Hose

Hi Brian

I used normal fuel hose for vacuum pipes (servo and feed to PCV) and stopped it from collapsing by putting 8mm copper fuel pipe inside the rubber fuel hose . The benefit is you can bend it to where you want it to go and stainless braiding and end finishers fit nicely on the rubber pipe. Works a treat

Cheers

But if it's attached to the engine at one end and the servo/body at the other then fatigue will set in and eventually break the copper, that's why you should use vac hose.

Dave

The copper pipe isn't actually connected at either end, it stops just short inside each end of the rubber pipe but does stop collapsing of the pipe. The advantage for me was that I could bend it around and it stayed in the correct palce without need P-clips etc.

Cheers
