Dipstick mounting!

Anyone with the FMS blue knurled dipstick out there? Ive been trying to see how to mount the tube and so far I cant figure out how I can get it in the front cover and mount it to the cyclinder head. Whichever way I try the bends are in the wrong place!

Anyone got any pics?

Cheers

Re: Dipstick mounting!

Hi Andy,

on my 351 the sump i used had no dipstick location so I drilled the front cover (probably in the same place as yours is)and slightly bent the tube so it locates with a spacer approx 1ins long on the front face of the head. The 1ins spacer takes it away from the rocker cover nicely.

Re: Dipstick mounting!

Hi Andy,
There are at least two different dipsticks for 302 engines. One is for sumps with the oil reservoir at the front and others for the rear. Check you have the correct one. That's the problem I had, wrong dipstick!
Cheers, Clive.

Re: Dipstick mounting!

Shane, yes I can see that a spacer would help greatly. Ill wait until I know what bolts where re the alternator and then get one made up.

Clive, the dipstick is correct for my sump, if I had the rear sump the dipstick would be way too long but as Ive got a front sump all is well!

Thanks!
