How have you plumbed your oil temp sender?

After previous advice that oil temp senders should be in moving oil Im now investigating how and where to plumb the sender in.

I have priced up using an oil cooler with a sandwich take off with built in stat, this then leaves me nowhere to plumb the sender convienently in an oil line before the oil stat.

I have also priced up using a remote filter head to give me an oil line to plumb the sender in before the stat, however this is approaching £100 more expensive than the first option. It's alot just so I can fit the sender in an oil line.

What other options are there given that my sump is installed and Id like to avoid having to take it off!

Many thanks

Buy an extra plug for your sump (preferable in brass). Drill and tap a hole for the temp sensor in the middle of the new plug. Quickly interchange the old plug with the new one.

I don’t know what sump you are running but it might leave the sensor somewhat exposed and too close to the road. That would be the only drawback as I see it.

It might not be the perfect solution but it is an easy option until you come up with something better (I am in the same situation, I will weld a bung in the sump as soon as I get an opportunity, I have left my temp gauge unconnected for the time being).

Ours is in the remote filter housing as you have said. I think that there may be sandwich plates with a sender in them too though - I think Europa do them.

Andy,
I have a remote take off plate and filter head to fit a 302 if you need it.
Pay for the p&p and it's yours.(I have the lines for it but they may not fit)
