GD Brake pipe kit

Question for you GD owners out there that have a GD Jag and got the spanners out.

Can anyone tell me what is included in
EBR05
Rigid Brake Line Set - GDJAG

Im trying to figure out if its more cost effective to buy the bits myself, so far on information I have received im about £30 cheaper than GD's price.

Im getting most other bits from GD but Id like to save a few quid if I can!

Cheers

Re: GD Brake pipe kit

Andy I made mine up. Only cost few quid as I had most of the items lying around anyway. I would have thought that you could save a few quid by shopping around. The Kunifer pipe instead of standard pipe is where the increase cost is incurred. It is also more difficult to form but will give you better anti corrosion properties. The GD items are very neatly done and labled etc but if you have the tools then you can acomplish to the same level at home no problem. I set out trying to source/ make as many bits myself to try and save costs. Lots of savings have been made but it has delayed my whole build somewhat!

Cheers,

Re: GD Brake pipe kit

I tend to find that it is scarcely worth the hassle with many things that GD sell to try and DIY. Especially with as something as critical as the brakes...

...then again, I am bloody lazy

Lee, by that do you mean the GD brake pipes are already formed or do you still have to shape them yourself?

After figuring in postage I reckon Id save about £15-20 so maybe not worth the hassle!

Cheers

Re: GD Brake pipe kit

To be honest I don't know. I would have expected them fromed for the money. Flaring is the easy bit. Putting a bend in the wrong spot (kunifer tends to work harden) means scrapping the lot ans starting again .

I am just a tight git. It may be easier to purchase the set if you don't already have a flaring tool etc. I borrowed one and blagged the fittings from work. Another mate supplied the Kunifer. Cost me an evenings work!

Re: GD Brake pipe kit

Andy
From memory the GD brake kit comes as a coil and a few straight bits, you still have to bend it to shape which isn't too difficult if you take your time. The main advantage apart from the flaring etc. being dne for you is that you know you will have the right amount of pipe and that all the fittings are going to be there.
Cheers
