Dremel tool bit improvisation!

Hi all,

I bought a nearly new Holley 750CFM carb' for my 393 Windsor build & wanted to generally de-flash & clean up the venturis, boosters & also radius tight angles to improve airflow.
So I have just spent a small fortune on a Dremel & a 110 piece Dremel bit kit, (The kit is that comprehensive it even includes a bit that will mash you a cup of tea!!). The 110 piece kit includes some great bits from course grinding stones to polishing bits however it does not include a small intermediate bit for polishing/ light grinding. So here’s a really cool idea which works superbly for delicate aluminium polishing / profiling especially when you don’t want to remove excessive material;
Take a standard green scotch pad & using a 1/2" max hole punch cut a disk out of the scotch pad then thread it onto the Dremel polishing wheel shank.
They polish small areas of ally fantastically & also gently remove flashing, scratches etc without being to abrasive, however they wear out pretty quickly. If you decide to try this don’t forget your safety specs & if you use the scotch pad disks for carb' polishing remember to blank off all the carb' orifices etc to prevent contamination!

Happy polishing:thumb: :thumb: !
Martyn

Green pan scourers can also be cut into strips and used as hedges when you are sad enough to play 'soldiers' when you are too old. You know who you are GM!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Re: Dremel tool bit improvisation!

I hear they're also quite good for cleaning pots and pans, although i've never tried it personally

Re: Dremel tool bit improvisation!

You know the special cupboard in the kitchen you use for cleaning engine parts, well that's really for dishes!!!

Green pan scourers are defunct for their original purpose and had to diversify to survive!

Re: Dremel tool bit improvisation!

I think you'll find it was a carefully and historically correct re-enactment of the battle or err something or other, anyhow they weren't mine, and there's nothing wrong with playing with tanks and guns. It's a man thing you girls don't understand.

(Could be worse, my two mates have just spent an undisclosed, but vast sum on Airsoft guns. (http://www.airsoftwarehouse.co.uk/ac...kyo_Marui.html) Great fun, bit like paintballing, but they have real grenades, side arms etc)
