Re: Engine Build-Up, Step by Step

Hi,

block looks good, just one question;

As you've spent alot of time paying attention to de flashing the exterior of the block & porting various internal parts of the block; did you not consider radiusing, smoothing & polishing the lifter valley features? I appreciate it is coated in some goop to aid oil return but as you are blue- printing the block as a whole it is normal standard practice to pay attention to the valley.

Regards,
Martyn

Re: Engine Build-Up, Step by Step

Hi Martyn,

Thanks.
The block smoothing was a part of the job to remove the paint.
I was there and some edges were so difficult to remove the paint so I did the all sharp corners.
It was easy to remove the all the bunch of metal, than just remove the old paint from the sharp corners.

I have a Hydraulic Roller lifters and that doesnt need too much oil like the normal flat tappets.
Even they dont need to have a brake-in period.

This engine will not a full race and just will produce 405 HP with lots of torque.

I dont think that is needed to go so dip in the valley also because I have a mild cam, when the combo is based in some radical cam that introduce a lot of friction at the flat tappets and the cam, in that case we should consider the soothing of the valley.

Best regards,
Cobra289

Well done, looks like a real strong torquey motor you built there.:thumb:

Re: Engine Build-Up, Step by Step

Thanks, d- Clarkson.

Step by step we are building the engine.

I got all the time because we are waiting for the heads (AFR)

I ordered long time ago but it takes 12 weeks the make them. (Milling work included)
The last week I did received a mail from them with an update.
It was nice because they go thru a valve train update at this moment the springs would be changed to the new type Beehive so the locks would be have less mass, also the valve lift would be upgraded till 0.6 but they are testing the new castings and need to wait.
This doesnt mean that I have a delay because still they think that it would be deliver inside the 12 weeks.
I think that the second week of September they would send the heads, till them I am waiting doing small things.

I waited nearly 6 months for mine, and told me my first castings where also faulty....They also had a CNC mahine that went down and that was a year ago!! Seams nothing has changed!
