jag diff bolts what size ???

hi ,does anybody know what size the thread is,for the bolts that go into the diff casing ? I want to renew mine for stronger ones,its the 4 bolts that bolt the diff to the chassis

Hi,
If my memory serves me correctly (which at my age is becoming less likely) the bolt size/thread is dependant on the chassis rather than the dif and therefore we need to know what you are building (Sumo, Dax etc.) On the Hawk I am pretty sure it is 1/2" UNF.

ok thanks for that,I am actually building a maserati 450s replica,but the cobra club is the nearest thing to this rare car.the chassis I have is made for a jag diff,which I have just got,but the bolts are now too short,I'm thinking titanium for strength and weight capabilities,anyone got any views on this ??

I don't mind you joining the Cobra club. All are welcome here.

I have 2 spare diffs in my garage. One is un unknown age and the other is a 1990 XJR diff.
Both have 1/2" UNC threads in the top. On the jag and my Dax these were countersunk bolts that must be wire locked in place after tightening.

I would stick to high tensile steel bolts myself. No point taking a chance on these bolts.

Hi there,

see my answer to your other thread. Bolts in the top of the diff are 1/2-13 UNC, bolts into the (lower) side of the diff are 7/16-14 UNC.
