AJ6 Engine

Hi,

I've got a Jaguar AJ6 engine, which I would ideally like to supercharge. I might not get anywhere here, but I guessed you might be able to answer some questions for me, you lot must have a fair bit of experience with engines between you!

The engine I have is a 3.6 AJ6 engine, 91mm bore and 92mm stroke.

The engine that Jaguar supercharged, is the AJ16, which from what I can see, is the same as mine but with an alloy head. It's 91mm bore, and 102mm stroke, to make it a 4.0.

Theoretically, if I can get hold of conrods and pistons from a 4.0 block, and put them in mine, I have the 4.0 engine am I right?

Then I can use standard jaguar parts from the 1995 XJR to supercharge the engine, which are available cheapish from eBay and the like?

Cheers,

Hi ???? Welcome to the Forum :thumb:

Firstly I'm guessing to get the longer stroke in the AJ16 they use a longer stroke crank.
Secondly The supercharged AJ16 probably runs a lower compression ratio. Which is either achieved by a different piston/or a different combustion chamber volume.
So it may not be as simple as you think
Best bet is a PM to KevDavis3 on here He used to work in Jaguar engine development :thumb:

Re: AJ6 Engine

Hmm if its longer stroke, then it will probably have higher block/deck height too, different combustion chamber capacity (bigger on super charged eng), the cam timing/duration overlap will be different.
Strikes me its not worth doing, as its hardly renowned as a great engine to start with; but good luck with your research.
