ETB Speedo Sensor

Hello
Can someone tell me how to test the magnetic induction sensor from ETB. I can't get any signal. I have tried to change the gap between the sensor and the magnet but the gauge still says no pulses. How do you test the sensor?
There are two wires, one red and one black. Can I some how use a 12 Volt light bulb and turn the wheel by hand to see if the sensor gives a signal??????????????

Hi Marc,

You will not be able to use a bulb to test for a signal as the pulse generated is VERY small, You could put a decent digital meter across the sensor and measure its resistance but you need to know what the resistance of a good one is...I suppose it will tell you if its gone open or short ciruit. ETB have a web site where you can download a wiring diragram and if you phone them they are very helpful.

Hope that helps!

Regards,

Pete

Re: ETB Speedo Sensor

Hello Pete,

Thanks for your reply. I will try to get some information from the ETB website. Otherwise I will give them a ring.

Re: ETB Speedo Sensor

Might be an obvious thing to ask but you have changed the settings in the speedo itself haven't you as they normally come set to the maximum pulse count

Re: ETB Speedo Sensor

Hello Martin

I spoke to John at ETB and he told me the resistance over the sensor should be 130 ohm. My one has 0.2 ohm. According to John it is dangerous to solder the wires as they are likely to overheat and damage the sensor.
