Temporary grey paint to cover flash lines

Hi,

I've been finishing off the flash line removal on my Dax bodywork. on most of the lines the gel coat is not deep enough and the green colour of the fibreglass shows through. Is this normal for most of you Dax owners who have built?

I was wondering if anyone had used a particular type of spray paint to temporarily cover the show through beneath the flash line when you sand it down?

I've included a picture in my gallery to illustrate what I am talking about.

Thanks.jpg[/img]

Hi Bogster,

I don’t have the experience but probably it would be better to ask DAX for a can of the “gel coat” that you can apply with a brush.
Other possibility is to use polyester “Top Coat” typical used to stop the sticky effect of polyester.
Anyway, protect this area is important to reduce the change of getting osmosis effect in the polyester.

I have seen the picture of you gallery and I need to say that it looks good!
If you use a small brush and with some gel coat you will get a nice result, make it warm first to have a better liquefied paint and apply very thin layers.
The most important is to take the time.

I didn't bother in the year I drove in the gell coat.

I don't think its worth risking it just to hide the lines in the short time between now and the paint job.

Last thing you need is some reaction occurring between the paint you used and the nice paint the sprayers will be using.

Best left in my opinion.

Craig.

agree with craggle. the more you try to hide the gel lines, your painter will have to strip back
