| What is meant by "Stroker" engine? Just a general interest on this one as I see it mentioned a lot, but what does it mean by "Stroker"? Thanks Martin

| Very simply, it has a longer stroke, therefore a bigger displacement, hence a stroked 350 (5.7ltr) becomes a 383 (about 6.3ltr). A "Stroker" engine is one which uses an aftermarket or modified crankshaft, connecting rods, and/or pistons to increase the stroke of the engine, which is the linear distance travelled by the pistons. "Stroking" an engine increases the displacement. Most stroker engines use kits which contain components much stronger than stock, making the completed engine more durable as well as more powerful.

It's simple realy.........It is an engine that has it's capacity increased by increasing the throw of the crank which lengthens the pistons travel or stroke. A larger swept volume or capacity is created.[/quote] Ah Ha! I had been wondering what these stroker engines were all about ....... Just goes to show that if you keep quite, you eventually find the answer.
