venting the fuel tank

Dax suggest to make a small bypass in the fuel filler hose. This will avoid a vacuum when the tanks feeds the engine by letting in air.

My questions is: is this bypass sufficient? or should I install an additional vent on the tank itself?

Regards

Patrick

Depends what sort of filler cap you are using.
I recently changed my "Aero" type for a "Le Mans" type and ran a vent from the cap to under the wheel arch.

Seems to work fine
the Aero was vented but the Le Mans from Europa wasn't.

Its only a 3/4mm pipe courtesy of the Neil O workshop - (he did all the drilling and fitting of the connection) What a star that guy is !!

I've asked this before but still haven't found the answer. There was thread on here not so long ago about this being absolutely essential for the breathing of the tank (tanks collapsing etc) and I'm going to use the Dax system as it seems to be tried and tested, but wwhere do you put that little tube that they supply - and before we start I know it goes in the filler hose one end , but where does it end up and where should it be fed through?

I think the other end should go through the body to the outside, otherwise the fuel fumes will stay inside the boot. I've drilled a small hole and used a grommet that is just the right size to clamp the tube.
