Now the other has Died !!

Hi Guys.
A couple of months ago, I posted that the alternator on the engine had died, I could find no reason why, there were no shorts to earth and, the battery appeared OK. Well, I replaced the duff unit with a new one and after about 25km it too has simply ...died !!!!.So, given that I'm not most lucky Guy in the world, & the replacement unit is /was not duff at purchase, What can be doing this to the system ? I repeat, there are no obvious shorts, or, damage to the wiring, plus all other services work fine, but.....??? any ideas where to look next.?
Charlie

Two things I would check. The first is that you have a good connection between the alternator and the battery and also that if you have a sensing wire, that it is connected. If either of these is missing the alternator does not sense the load and tries to over compensate and often burns out.

I hate to say this, but I suspect that your alternator(s) are not correctly wired up. And no, sorry, but I am not going to try to diagnose the problem over the 'net - find a good auto electrician and get them to check it out. Only way IMHO.

Thanks Guy's..
Seems like a visit to the auto electrician is called for.
But.. before I do..just a quick question.. too which spade terminal in the alternator does the 12v switched wire(dash warning light) go to ? javascript:emoticon('')
Confused
Wilf: Who does replacement internals for the GM alternator ? & do you have a number/email ?
Ta!!!
Cheers.

Charlie. Mine is wired with the warning light on the No1/R terminal. The No2/F terminal is linked via a fuse to the main terminal. This is how Brian at Repower told me to wire it and I've not had a problem in 3 years
