SBC 350 Oil Capacity?

Hi All

Does anyone know the oil capacity for a standard SBC 350? I've had anything ranging between 4.5 - 8 quarts (0.946 of a litre)

Thanks
Gary

Hi Gary
I have a 6 quart (US) sump and that equates to 5.68 litre so i'm told. Not filled it yet. Engine lying 10 feet from car. I believe you can get sumps of different capacities so you'll have to find out what you have first. Engine builder should know. Hope that helps.

Mine takes about 5 litres, std sump etc. Don't forget if you have an oil cooler though or remote oil filter housing it will take more!

Thanks guys.

The reason I'm asking is that I couldnt/cant get the exact dipstick for my engine. However, I do have one that fits but the levels are differant. Hence my quest for the exact volume so that I can mark the DS myself.

Gary
