How stiff new UJ's?

Hi
I have fitted new UJ's to my jag drive shafts and although there is movement they seem fairly stiff. Is this normal or should they be really loose (I understand not too loose.. ). I have tapped them in against the circlip as suggested in other posts. Just wanted an opinion please.

Thanks

Martin

They're not going to be really loose. When I assembled mine 3 were all I can describe as average and one was pretty tight to the point of needing a bit power to move it by hand. This stiff joint I decided to take apart and found one of the needle rollers had popped out of place during assembly and was destroyed whilst putting it back to together which was causing the stiffness. I replaced said needle roller and all was well.

I doubt you've done this to all of yours and would suggest they're all average stiffness.

Hi

As Kev has said, they tend to be fairly stiff when new - when you move them by hand they will feel tightish & will move quite jerkily, (is jerkily a word?)

Regards,
Martyn
