| Clutch slave mounting Hi all, As clutch slave mounting seems to be 'of the moment', has anyone else got the clutch slave mounted to the chassis rather than the bellhousing? This is where mine is mounted(not by me I hasten to add!) and I think this is probably the major contributor to the nasty clutch judder it suffers from at lower revs! I'm considering changing it around, but am I missing something in thinking that's the cause of the judder? |

| Alex. I would check for wear on the clutch plate itself as this could be a major cause of judder, also check for wear in the spigot bearing and release bearing. You may need a new clutch kit, any idea how old your current one is? I don`t personally know of anyone who has slave cylinder mounted on chassis , it would move independantly of the engine and gearbox and I would mount it on engine /bellhousing if I were you.You may get away with it if it`s a Willwood puller type slave which uses rose joints to mount and would allow for any movement. Check propshaft/driveshafts etc. whilst your at it for any wear / loose componants. Tony.

| Thanks Tony, The clutch is about 16 years old now! Although its only done about 5,000 miles. It's pretty much had this judder all its life too. It's the bit about the differential movement that leads me to believe it is caused by the mounting position. It wouldn't take much vibration in the drivetrain to make the release fork move about, and the more it moves the more it will vibrate and the more it will move etc. Looks like a new mounting position is in order then, although I will check the rest of the drivetrain first I think. Thanks again, Alex |
