Age of engine from the number

I have the engine number for the Rover V8 in my kit. Does anyone know of a website where I can age the engine with reference to its number? Link would be nice

I understand that this info will be needed for SVA in relation to emissions.

Will it also determine the reg. number prefix?

I understand Rimmers do this online other than that write to the Heritage centre at Gayden they will send you a letter giving the date of manufacture for the SVA. I used this and the SVA man was quite happy with this all you need is to send cheque for £10 (Ithink) with your engine number.

Some do and some dont, I checked with my local SVA tester and he said it would be OK, but I know of others that have insisted on something more official
