| Tightening NPTF Water Fittings My SBC came with straight heater outlets on the manifold and pump - these aren't particularly usefull for routing the heater hoses. So I've got a coupe of -10 elbows and 1/2" NPTF to -10 adaptors. When I go to fit the adaptors they only go into the pump / manifiold about 1 turn until hand tight. I appreciate that NPT threads have to deform to help form a seal (along with some ptfe tape) so there would be some resistance? Question is... how much do I tighten them? I've read somewhere that 3 turns beyond hand tight would be OK for up to 1" Obviously I don't want to break anything! Also I assume that NPTF will screw into NPT? Thanks in advance. Simon.

Hard to say,I have used these fittings on my car and I only nip them up maybe 1/2 a turn. Don't forget to use plummer tape or they will leak. Never heard of NPTF?? only NPT.

| NPTF is the higher spec version of NPT intended for Fuel but the dimensions are the same. NPTF is intended to be dry-seal (no sealant required) but this will only work where both fittings are NPTF which is not the case with an inlet manifold.
