Loctite 243 removal

Just a quickie ... anyone have any tips on removing cured loctite 243 from bolt threads (coarse) ... have tried soaking overnight in thinners, but still need a wire brush and hacksaw blade by the look of it.

Heat usually softens it. I had hell of a problem getting Range Rover suspension bolts out because of the thread lock. I decided to try some heat on them and they came out so easily. The loctite softened to a gooey mess but set again once cool.

Try holing the bolts in a vice and gently heating whilst wire brushing. It should come out fairly easy.

Craig.

Spell checkers are great unless the word you misspell is an actual word!

That was meant to say Holding.

Cheers for pointing it out though. First time I have been pulled up on my spelling.

Craig.

Just a quick update, for what it is worth ... I finished up using a blowlamp on the affected threads with a view to softening it up and wire-brushing off, but after a while of heating it just sort of disappeared ... must have burnt off, but left no residue or anything .... may be of use to someone in the future with a similar problem.
