I found that an "Easy Bleed" is much more reliable than a "Wife" for doing this sort thing!

Think of it as an investment Paul. You're not necessarily looking for a quick return because you're in it for the long term.

Why ??
It's usual to bleed the system with the slave cylinder still bolted to the bellhousing.

clutch

Rite. Ive (Weve) bled the clutch, NO shouting / swearing honest. Still dosn,t feel right. I can select first and reverse gears when engine is running, but you really have to force it. Clutch seems to bite when you lift your foot up only a fraction, seems to nearly creep forward with clutch depessed now what..

Hi Stevem,

We have had this problem with two Cobras that did received a new engine and gearbox.
We did extend the push rod a bit more but didn't help to much.

What we did was put the Cobra on the stands and run is in gear for a wile till it get on temperature, shifting as much as we could, you get tired of it.

We let cool down for 15 minutes and then everything did work like it should be. The pedal become soft and easy, like it should be.

I suppose that comes because the clutch, flywheel and cover plate becomes film rusty and don't come apart from the cover plate.
If the gearbox was installed for a couple of months you can expect the same.
The nice thing is that both cars where in depended using the same method and that both did find the same solution.

I think that heat and the amount of shifting (on the stands) did the job, we both where tired of bleeding and get fluid only.
We did check several times the stroke and every time is was OK for me the stroke at the fork was 22 mm and was calculated 21 mm. I am still having the 22 mm stroke and it works like a champ!

I hope that this help at least it did works for us.

Regards,
