Rear light spacing and flick switches

Hi All

Just about to recut the holes for the brake/indicator lights in the rear of the cobra but I dont know how much space there should be between the lights. Anyone kow what the 'correct' spacing should be?

Also I'm about to sort out the dashboard - are there any toggle (Flick) switches I can use or do they all fall foul of the sva?

CeeJay.

Just space the lights so you have a small gap in between, just enough so you can clean and polish, 4/5mm should be plenty.

Re the switches, you can use toggle switches and anything else without the correct radius as long as they are within the exempt area as shown in enclosed pic. So the bigger the steering wheel, the bigger the exempt area

Thanks Mike - I'll try that spacing with the lights this weekend. As to the toggle switches I knew you could use them within the exempt area but I have seen several that have a large domed cap - and wondered if they'd get past the sva inspector....

Ceejay,
If these are the ali type sold by carbuilder solutions, then you should be OK. I used these, along the bottom of the dash binnacle, so outside the exclusion zone. I originally had the teardrop style toggle, that I changed for the domed one for sva purposes. However, to help it pass I also made some protectors, consisting of ali rod with threaded ends bent into a semi-circular U-shape with a pipe bender. These I bolted (nutted?) through onto the dash either side of each switch. The protectors have the correct radius for SVA and prevent mr sva's ball touching the offending switch - basically the same solution that BMW have used on the new Mini. No problem for my sva test, but may depend on the test centre you use.

Thanks for the emails guys! I'll probably just fit rocker switches to get me through the sva - then I'll fit proper flick witches.

Thanks again for the replies!
