A point to ponder:

Since I went back and re-read the SVA manual (note to self, don't rely on fallible memory), the text could be implied to mean that if you have a non-standard engine (and lets face it, we all do), then without a dyno sheet, the max hp rpm are NOT known.

Max design rpms for a 1970s/80s US V8 could be as low as 4500, if it had been in a truck, so the 2/3rds rule might be of use.

Just food for thought.......
