Hi Tinka, I think I found what the problem was with the over heating. I was trying to get the air out of the system after fitting the bleed from top hose to the header tank when I noticed the rad was fitted UP SIDE DOWN So I then went about removing the rad and refitted it the correct way up, best part of 3 hours work. Now the question is, I don't have a bypass for the heater fitted but there is a shut off valve in front of the heater, which I have fixed in the open position. Can I just fit a Y connector in to the pipe work. I want to be able to Turn off the heater, or do I need a special valve?

Yes as long as the water can circulate it should all be fine as far as by passing the heater goes
