Insurance

If anyone is thinking about looking at insurance in the near future I am compiling a list of companies and slowly working out that there are pretty much only three or four useful companies that are capable of providing insurance for our vehicles with a series of other entities that are simply referral companies all going to the same place.

There are even some companies that refer you to the referral companies that in turn refer you to Adrian Flux for the 5th time!

Will post the list later - it is nearly there.

Jon - I hear the sounds of wheels being reinvented.............this has already been done and can be seen at one of our members websites, details of which escape me right now but I can probably turn it up, or you can by doing a search on "insurance".

Found it: http://allthingscobra.tripod.com/insurance.html

Hi Wilf,

That was the base that I was working off but I think that that was created a couple of years ago nowfrom the position that the insurers that I have been going to are taking (particularly it seems in regard to security requirements over certain values).

It also seems that a number of the companies are now signed up to the same call referral systems (e.g. norton refers to heritage) so I thought it might help to update it. I have contacted all of them now except sureterm who I fell out with a couple of years ago for a policy voidance on one of my father's cars.

Insurance

I am also looking for Insurance and have got Backford Bloor the best . This is based £35k 3,000 Miles Claims Free Seven Years Garaged Thatcham Alarm Premium £435.00 A Flux £721.28 which seemed a little steep , MSM were in around the Backford Bloor figure. Sureterm couldnt do a value above £25k and that is as far as i have got.Is this in the Ballpark or is there better to be had?

Hope the attachment helps someone.

Just so you know,

£30k agreed value
2 x drivers one over 30 with one SP30, 1 under 30, no points
No security beyond ignition switch, steering lock and power cut out
Garaged
limited mileage to 4500 / 5000

My figures are on their as a guide.

Jon

PS just seen the comment about A Flux. I have to say they didn't seem all that helpful. I asked them if they could tell me what was really loading the policy because of the high premiums and said that they couldn't do any better so that was it. Got the feeling that they may think they are top of the tree and don't have to worry. Backford Bloor on the other hand couldn't help more - really impressed by the service and the knowledge of the girl on the end of the phone.

I echo the Backford Bloor thing - been with them for 7 years, and they have always been very helpful and knowledgeable. Unlike F*ux.
