| Steering rack oil Can anyone remind whether to put oil in the steering rack bellows and if so, what type and quantity? Thanks. Bob

You dont put oil in the gaitors/bellows they are just there to stop crap getting onto the rack ends as they exit the rack itself,if you filled them with oil you would end up with a baloon instead of a gaiter on full lock, Regards Alfie B

| I have always put grease (general purpose, high melting point) into my racks. Although I believe Jordan puts silicon into hers.

| I had an originally oil filled steering rack rebuilt some years ago by Delphi (I think). On it's return a small plug was missing and you could hear air escaping when the rack was moved from side to side. Clearly if Air was escaping Oil could too. I rang up to complain and was told that Racks are greased for life these days with a grease called STERAK (STEering RAcK) It would appear it's made by Shell but where you would get small quantities I know not.... http://www.lister.co.uk/lubricants/greases.pdf See bottom of column 3 page 3 Denis
