Bonnet clearance!

Done some more to the old Dax again today. Been trial fitting various bits and pieces under my bonnet including the carb.

I would like to fit one of these Oval Cobra type air filters but it appears to be a bit tight with my narrow scoop Dax bonnet.

A bit of a cheek really, but I was wondering whether anyone close to the Medway towns would let me try their Cobra style filter please.

You might find that you need a lowrise/ lowrider filter to get enough clearance.
Also you will be surprised how much the engine will settle into it's mounts after a few hundred giving you a bit more clearance.

Ian,

Can't help with the Cobra filter but I do have a couple of drop base 14" filters (different heights) that you can try.

No problem mate.

If you are going to the meet on Wednesday i can bring one with me (the slightly taller of the 2) or you can call over at some point to see which one is better suited. The really low one is on my car at the moment and it's still to big

I keep looking at it and I think a slight tweak with a very big hammer may just solve it

I'm going to try and make Weds but I'll have to see how Helen is.

A round filter may foul the bonnet each side of the scoop hence the oval option.
