Carter Fuel Pump problem

Hi

I have just recieved my brand new Carter P4594 fuel pump. Attempting to mount in on a temporary bracket in order to fire my Cobra up for the first time, I stripped a thread off one of the studs that hold it to the bracket (see picture). I didn't put any pressure on the damned thing, it just kept turning...........anyway thats life!! Can anyone tell me where I can get a replacement stud??

Thanks

Martin

Easily done I managed to get a nut to just grab the remaining thread. 5 years on it's still hanging there

Just thinking about it. If/When I need to remove the pump again, I will get a length of studding/cut down bolt that screws into the pump body. Lock the top plate of the pump down with a nut, and pass the rest through the mounting finishing off with washer and decent sized domenut. It really is a crap design

If you know someone with a lathe get them to cut off the damaged stud flush with main body and then drill & tap it out and put a piece of threaded stud in it. You maybe able to drill it out by hand if your careful.

Hi

Thats a good idea. One problem is though, I am rubbish at knowing thread sizes!! Have you any idea what the size of the thread is where it goes into the pump body?

Thanks

Martin

Hi David

It does say on the box that you don't need to do that, have you found it to be necessary?

Thanks

Martin
