Rover V8 Oil Pump Bolts

Hi ,
Does anybody know the bolt head designation for the bolts associated with a RV8 (old P6) oil pump housing. They are not hex headed and I need to know where I can get sockets to remove bolts.

Thanks

Martsam

They are strange things aren't they.

12 pointed or Bi-hex sockets will fit as will 12 pointed ring spanners.

Craig.

Thanks Craggle,
Do you know where I can easily get hold of the sockets?

I struggled to find a set of sockets to fit. I ended up with Snap On ones at about £100 a set! Nice quality though.

I would check your local Halfords for a socket or spanner. I think they are about 8mm but not 100% sure.

Craig.

Gents,

Just for info, they are NOT 8mm - they are 5/16 AF. Standard (but high quality) 12 point 5/16 ring spanner is what you need.

Can confirm that, they are 5/16th A/F and I think for one of them you will need a ring spanner of the same size as one of them is covered by the housing,so a socket wont engage

cant confirm the AF rating, I did mine with a combination of metric tools - but the best way to remove them is with a ring spanner - you wont get a socket on all of them.
