Speedo data help

I have a smiths classic speedo with the sensor sending data from the 4 prop bolts.
However, upon reading the instructions to calibrate the speedo I figured out like this.... 1609(chap from caermont said this) divided by 800(wheel ratios per mile) x diff ratio x 4 (bolts) and the figure I got was 114.20744

I put what I could fit in the display from that number and the speedo does not work, I have checked the sensor because it flashes an LED once a bolt passes the sensor, so all ok there.

I am wondering if the right number has been put in, so if anyone has achieved this with whatever number I would be grateful.

I have 17" wheels for reference sake.

Doesn't sound right Stu. Is it the newer type without the dip switches? If so it should be Tyre Revs Per Mile (800) X Diff Ratio X No of Bolts (4) With a 3.31 diff it gives 10592

I agree Chris, it is the newer type but what I can't understand is why the chap at caemont gave me this way of getting the figure and in the instructions it states what you suggested.

I have a 3.62 diff so I would presume this sum would work better, I just hope I can reprogram the speedo.

11584 with a 3.68 diff then. Reprogramming sounds easy enough

The number was re-entered, and a quick run round the corner all is well
