I haven't yet re-made the filler pipe through the boot space. It's one of my winter jobs. When I do it I will post a few pictures on here.

Got some stainless tubing sorted out.

What I need now is some smooth 2" rubber pipe to make the connections at either end. I have some tube with a wire core in it but it's difficult to work with in short lengths as the wire tries to straighten out.

I see Europa spare sell some that looks like non wire wound rubber. Can anyone confirm this?
Pipes

Does anyone have any offcuts of this pipe in their garage? I only need about 3" of it.

If I ever change the fuel tank I will weld the tube in the side of it and run a straight pipe.

Craig.

Not sure if anyone's interested in this but here goes.

I received some 2" pipe today from a local source and decided to re-make my fuel filler pipe.
I Found two 90 degree bends and a bit about 45 degrees. I set to and cut them to length then Tig welded them together to make a new pipe. There is still rubber connectors at each end to allow some movement if needed.

Unfortunately the 45 degree bend wasn't enough really. I could have done with a tighter bend so I had to weld the joins at bit of an angle but it doesn't look too bad.
Hope it doesn't leak now!

If I ever change or remove the fuel tank I will weld a new filler point in place on the side and run a straight hose.

Craig.

I like that Craig

I have an aston cap to fit myself but not keen on running the normal flexi hose round that inner arch edge, especially as we often have the boot packed outto bursting point

Very nice Craig but that boot of yours is an utter disgrace, I can see at least 5 specs of fleck in there. Make an effort will you

btw - what do you think of my new HT rails ?

http://homepage.ntlworld.com/chedzoy...ils/rails2.bmp

I designed them up and my brother-in-law made them for me on his big machine. I think they took rather longer to make than he or I thought they would but look the dogs danglies to me. I just hope I measured everything correctly. :S I'll get them on Thursday

Cheers

Very nice work there Chedz. Like them Post a picture once their in place.

Whilst were all showing off our handy work I thought I would make a little cover for the brake fluid reservoir while I had the welder setup.

I had some left over material from the engine bay cladding so bent up a little 3 sided box affair and welded the corners together.

I sanded the welds smooth and spent an hour or so with the buffing wheel on a bench grinder but I think it turned out OK. Just means you have to remove the cap to check the fluid level now but at least I have the warning light still fitted if it does get low.
It's stuck to the reservoir with a dollup of silicone sealer.

Gspot, have you swapped your RV8 for a V10 without telling us? The rails have 5 wire clamps on one end?
