Lucas Lights

I have the small, glass Lucas lights for Tail/Brake in Red and Indicators in Orange. In taking them off it is apparent that they are in fact clear with a coloured coating on the inside. It is starting to deteriorate and they need repainting/recoating.
Anybody come across a fix for this - obviously must be heatproof to a degree...

My Indicator lights are made from orange glass but the brakes were clear glass with red paint on the inside.
I wanted clear indicators anyway so I scrapped the paint of my brake lights and then ordered new ones to replace them with.

You can get glass paint from art shops which I have used before to paint directly onto bulbs. Temperature didn't seem to effect it.

Craig.

Caught me there... I have not actually taken the indicators apart. As my Mum said, "Assumption is the Mother of all **** ups". Mess being the missing word.
Thanks for info about the paint.

Did you think about having all th lights at the back clear? Is it legal to have a clear stop/tail light (with red bulb, of course) - Lexus seem to do it...
I only say the as the indicator lenses did turn out to be painted, have stripped them all and now have 4 clear rears.
Time to spend a bit of thought what the different ideas look like...

I did try clear lenses for the brake lights but the issue was finding red coloured bulbs. I did find some LED type replacements that glowed red but these weren't bright enough for my liking.

I decided to stick with clear indicators with Philips silver vision bulbs and then used standard brake lights.
