I got my carb from him, excellent service. He wasn't doing manifolds then, but managed to get a offy 360 for a good price, and have a big gap between filter and bonnet.

The accelerator cable will need to be longer so yes, a new one is needed.

Choke cable will probably fit as it is but you won't need it.

A drop base air cleaner should clear most bonnets. If not a 2" element can be fitted to reduce the height.

I used the Edelbrock manifold on my Land Rover and it ran great.

Craig.

You can get air filters that have a flat base so they fit on the top of the carb and the base is at the same level. The filter is then usually 3" on top of this and then the top goes on to this. You can easily add about 4" to the height of the engine with the air cleaner.

A drop base air filter fits in the same place on the top of the carb but the base is then recessed so the outer edge sits about an inch below the base of the carburettor. This reduces the overall height of the assembly by about an inch.

A photo would be easier but I don't have any of the filter.

Craig.

As Craig says you will need a different throttle cable with a bracket, i got mine from Real Steel. I used a 14"x3" Edelbrock air filter, again from Real Steel. You will also need a PCV to control the engine breathing, i didn't and my tickover was 1500 rpm. I adapted the choke cable from theSU's, but have never used it. Lastly you will need to change the jets, needles and springs, as it will be way too rich for a 3.5, have a browse for the needle sizes on here , I bought a calibration kit but it doesn't have the bits you need.

Give RPI a ring with your engine details. They confirmed the edelbrock is over jetted as standard for a 3.5 and sent me a pair of "metering rods", (needles) and jets for £14. Changed them in about a half hour, went for a blast and am convinced the car goes even better, can smell less petrol, lost the sooty deposits from the tail pipes and lost some of the "poping" on over run (unburnt fuel?).
