SU's can be OK up to 200BHP in a RV8, but if you are determined, go look for a s/h edlebrock or offenhauser manifold with 500cfm edlebrock carby attached. It WILL need leaning off as they are very rich from the box, unless someone has done it already.

If you are lucky, you might find such a set-up from someone converting to EFI.

I'd agree with Wilf and stick with the SU's. if you want to spend money on your engine to improve power then you would be better getting the heads flowed and/or changing the cam and/or a decent flowing exhaust system.

You could probably get a decent set from someone who has had poorer advice and is upgrading to a 500cfm eldebrock carby or efi!

I'd suggest going to hotwire EFI, many come available on Ebay and not too difficult to fit

There are plenty of SU's secondhand on Ebay etc.

Alternatively RPI sell brand new ones for less than you would pay for an Edelbrock carb. If budget is limited then this is the way I would go

Personally I would go with the Edelbrock 500.

It is an easy to tune, Easy to use setup and looks the part too. They do need the jets changing if you have a standard 3.5L engine but that is easy enough to do.
Good thing is that they are usable on any size Rover so if you decide to change things later like the heads, cam, Larger capacity block, Then you will already have the carb to do it and a simple re-tune will see it running right.

Craig.

Thumbs up

If you go with the Edlebrock 500, its worth giving Paul at V8 Tuner a ring as he normaly has a good deal over Rimmer, RPI etc.

thanks everyone ...I fancy going down the edelbrock route ( time to give the engine a little bling) has anybody had any problem with the clearance between air filter and bonet. And finally what would be the best inlet manifold to go for.
