Which gearbox? Need help!

Hi, I'm attaching some pics of the gearbox in my RAM which is broken. It's a 5-speed and think it's a 1977-81 Celica.

If anyone could confirm this, that would be great.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get a new one in the UK?

I've tried Mr. Engine, but they're taking ages finding me one.

Also, would an upgrade to a Supra Turbo (w55,w58 ) involve a lot of work on propshaft, etc.? I have a chevy 350 engine.

Please only answer if you have direct experience or 'know a man who definitely knows'.

Many thanks.

Gearboxman - home

email your pics to Bernie at the Competition transmission services, he will be able to tell you what you have, and he can probably repair it, depending of course whats broken.

he is reasonably priced, and recommended as i've used him before

if the chevy is tuned youll just break the new one (5 neutrals is the usual result LOL) my old RAM had the Celica Supra box like yours, the tuned 302 ford was too much for it; a Tremec box fixed it for good.
There are a lot of RAMs with the Celica box, as RAM (Adrian Cocking, now Realm) made an adaptor kit for them. They are very sensitive to alignment (the gearbox being concentric to the crankshaft) so you must dial in the bell housing bore to the crank.
